Antique Radiators
With more people choosing to decorate their houses in a more elegant and historical manner, antique radiators are proving to be a very popular edition to match the character of the house. There are many places that now fully refurbish and restore antique radiators back to their former fully working capacity.
Although they do add a lot of character to any property, a fully restored antique radiator will not come cheap. A standard sized one will cost you anywhere from £150 - £200 so shopping around is essential. In most cases finding one and restoring it yourself proves to be a lot more cost effective and could easily save you 50% of the cost of purchasing one fully restored.
The effectiveness of antique radiators obviously depends on its previous use but most do function to the required needs and will heat a standard sized room with no problem. Although it is still recommended that you still implement other forms of insulation to ensure your property is not losing essential energy from other places.
Cast iron radiators are also proving popular as a cheaper alternative to a fully restored antique radiator. A standard sized cast iron radiator can be obtained for as little as £70 brand new and add that touch of class also. Although always the cheapest option, the basic white radiators are slowly being replaced with more elegant looking and stylish antique radiators.
